Tips on Potty Training? Is she even ready?
My daughter is 2 years old, she turned two in July.
Just about a month ago she started showing interest in what people are doing in the bathroom, asking ‘whatcha dooin’. About two months ago she got ‘unscared’ of the potty. Before, we just placed her on the potty to see what she did and she would scream. She JUST got over being afraid of it.
Now, I’m pretty sure she’s not completely ready to be potty trained, it doesn’t phase her when her diaper is soiled, she can’t stay dry unless she’s out in public ( For some reason she stays dry longer when we’re out and about ) She can’t even take a small nap w/o wetting her diaper. She also shows no interest in ‘big girl undies’ or sitting on the toilet on her own, we have to set her on the potty or ask her to set on it.
So, when we start potty training her how should we go about it. ( cause i’m sure she’s going to be a lot more difficult than my son who was all super interested and learned REALLY quickly when to go and all that )
Also has anyone else had difficult toddlers to potty train? I mean, shes already over two and not really interested in it, when I try to show her what to do she just doesn’t seem to care, giggles, runs off, thinks everything I’m saying is a game or funny. Which can be frustrating, but it doesn’t bother me too much.
I also have an issue with the father who is REALLY pushing the potty training thing on me, which is fine, but I just feel like she is NOT ready. She potties in her training pants / undies and it doesn’t phase her, even after I set her on the potty, she’ll say she’s done, pull them up then tee tee in them.
So any suggestions or anything would be awesome. Do you think I should wait a little while until she seems interested or actually phased by dirty diapers?
