Tips on Potty Training? Is she even ready?

My daughter is 2 years old, she turned two in July.

Just about a month ago she started showing interest in what people are doing in the bathroom, asking ‘whatcha dooin’. About two months ago she got ‘unscared’ of the potty. Before, we just placed her on the potty to see what she did and she would scream. She JUST got over being afraid of it.

Now, I’m pretty sure she’s not completely ready to be potty trained, it doesn’t phase her when her diaper is soiled, she can’t stay dry unless she’s out in public ( For some reason she stays dry longer when we’re out and about ) She can’t even take a small nap w/o wetting her diaper. She also shows no interest in ‘big girl undies’ or sitting on the toilet on her own, we have to set her on the potty or ask her to set on it.

So, when we start potty training her how should we go about it. ( cause i’m sure she’s going to be a lot more difficult than my son who was all super interested and learned REALLY quickly when to go and all that )

Also has anyone else had difficult toddlers to potty train? I mean, shes already over two and not really interested in it, when I try to show her what to do she just doesn’t seem to care, giggles, runs off, thinks everything I’m saying is a game or funny. Which can be frustrating, but it doesn’t bother me too much.

I also have an issue with the father who is REALLY pushing the potty training thing on me, which is fine, but I just feel like she is NOT ready. She potties in her training pants / undies and it doesn’t phase her, even after I set her on the potty, she’ll say she’s done, pull them up then tee tee in them.

So any suggestions or anything would be awesome. Do you think I should wait a little while until she seems interested or actually phased by dirty diapers?

Emin’s pouched rat toilet trained (Matisse)

Thank you everyone who helped out writing/calling in to their state reps! www.nohr669.com -EDIT- SEPT. 2008- THE FDA LIFTED THE BAN ON POUCHED RATS AS PETS IN THE UNITED STATES!!! If ANYONE in the US still has them, I am VERY interested in two young pouched rats! Either Emin’s pouched OR Gambian pouched! THANK YOU!!! Matisse is an emin’s pouched rat, they are RELATED to gambian pouched rats, but are seperate species. He is 4 years old as of 6/07, NOT neutered (vet turned me down back when I got him), and EXTREMELY affectionate. That said, not everyone can or should handle an african pouched rat. They are not domestic animals and do not act like it, either. EDIT- Matisse was an emin’s pouched rat (Crycetomis emini), a smaller, sleeker relative of the gambian pouched rat (Crycetomis gambianus). The emin’s pouched rat has a longer snout, it’s fur is very sleek and body is thin and longer. They have a clear line of demarkation from it’s dark brown upper body and it’s greyish white belly. The gambian rat has a short snout, a bulkier body, is a uniform greyish color, and a bit “rougher” looking fur. My emin’s pouched rat weighed about 4 lbs. at his peak, was SOLID muscle, made lots of “churbling” noises (almost like a parrot) and was very playful outside his cage. He was extremely intelligent, scarily so, and figured things out instantly. He was also VERY stubborn, and if he didn’t want to do something, there was no way you could make him. Matisse passed away Summer of 2007 at

my son and potty training….agian???

i had asked a question on here earlier about my son(3 next month) who i have been trying to potty train for the last year, he goes wonderfully on the toilet when he is naked and alot of you said to just keep him naked, well hes been naked pretty much the whole year lol, but then alot of ppl told me that i cant keep him naked that i needed to put clothes on him and i was training him badly, my friend told me that she was trained with punishment and it worked for her so i tried to give him time outs for peeing in his pants cause he does know how to pee on the toilet but i felt bad for doing that, didnt think it was right for an accident that he couldnt help, i feel bad, dont know what to do, im getting frustrated but keeping calm around him about it, i would really like him to be potty trained before the baby comes in july, is there any other suggestions out there please help i need it. i feel as if hes never ever gonna go on the potty.

Potty training a 31/2 year old twin boy?

So I have 4 kids, 2 older boys and a set of twin boy and girl. Just when I thought I had it all figured out with potty training boys, my baby decided to throw me off! His twin sister potty trained at 2 (typical girl) but this little boy has NO DESIRE to go potty in the toilet. We’ve tried just about everything I could think of, even bribing the young lad. So I’m in search of new ideas/ways to encourage my son to want to potty train.

potty training 2 1/2 year old girl?

I am potty training my 2 1/2 year old girl for the second time, she was so close to be fully potty trained back in June but a lot of changes had happened and also a possible " incident " type rumor in her old daycare, so she switched daycares and things are pretty normal right now, so we started to potty train again.. the last half month she has been on and off going potty at daycare and every once in awhile at home.. so this weekend I went ahead and let her pick out a potty chair again and decided to go the commando and panties only route except for bed time.. this weekend it has been kind of moderate but this evening she was pretty resisting to using the potty.. i am not too sure if it was just because she was tired and getting grumpy or what.. or maybe i am just a little bit sensitive and trying not to push too hard on her… she is definately ready i think and she loves to wear her panties and loves the praise that she gets when she goes, i was just kind of wandering if anyone had some sort of advice on how i should go about it with daycare though… my original plan was to take away the pull ups from daycare and have quite a few panties and extra pants.. has anyone else done this and how did it work out for you?

Potty Training little boys – Outside?

Hi~
I have a son, Jason who will be 4 in Aug. As of right now he is not showing any signs of wanting to be potty trained at all. We ( hubby & I)have tried everything short of treats ( we do not believe in rewarding a child for this) to get him intersted in the potty. No luck. People have told me that if I allow him to run naked outside this would teach him. My question is how??? How do you go from going outside to going potty in the potty. I want him to sit for both. I will not allow my husband or sons to stand and go pee in our house, if women can sit for both so can a man. And it is cleaner too!
If anybody has any ideas on how to get my son to potty train ASAP! That would be great! He just doesn’t care.
Thank You,
Jennifer
A. I will not allow my husband or sons to stand up to pee is because I don’t want to clean up the mess. And my sons future wives will love me for it! To me it is gross and dirty.

B. I have tried the cherrio thing. Didn’t work! Jason just looked at me like I was crazy!
I know that my father and brother sat going pee! It is gross!

What is so wrong with a boy sitting for both. When I taught daycare that is what we had all the boys do. They sat. We just made sure that their "little guys" were aimed down. It is so much cleaner for them.
I do not believe in giving rewards. The only "reward" he would get would be a high 5 and a hug.
If I start now with rewards, my boys would start to think that they needed a reward for everything that they do. And we know in life that dosn’t happen.
I don’t want him running around inside naked. I don’t want to clean up the mess and we just moved into a new home. I know that he likes to be naked, but I am not sure if that will help him potty train or not.
As of right now, he could care less if he peed or pooped in his pull up. I have to check it, in order to know if he needs to be changed.

Best ways to potty train boys?

My son is a little over 2 and we started potty training him like 6 or 7 months ago and he did really good, but he went back to not using the potty and using diapers. I have been trying to get him to use the potty but he just doesn’t seem interested. I was looking for some ways to potty train that would keep him interested.
That was really uncalled for you saying to cut off his pens. Really what kind of person would say something like that especially about a child.
