Any tips for toilet training my 19 month old daughter?
I’ve got her sitting in the potty clothed….so she’s confortable with that.
I’ve bought some pullups with wetness liner, and I’ve bought her some panties.
I just need a time line of what to expect and how I should go about actually starting the training.

I have to disagree with dawnsearlylight. Pullups are a good thing if you use them right. I have a son he is 2 1/2 now and 100% potty trained (after alot of work!) but for him he needed pullups instead of diapers because they really reminded him of underwear but when he 1st started training most of the time he pee’d on himself not in the toliet, although I don’t like the huggies brand because they still pull from the side like diapers. I started him at 1 1/2 as well as his daycare. We just tried to stay consistant as others responded start with morning, before and after nap and before bed. As for the comment of you need to wait until they can stay dry all night before you should start untrue you should wait until they can at least stay dry 1 – 2 hours at a time during the day. My son stopped wetting himself overnight at 6 months old and he was not read to be potty trained. Basically take the cues from her and when she is peeing more in the toliet (60/40) than on herself you might want to try underwear at home and pullups for trips outside (mall etc.) then underwear all day and pullups at night only then take the pullups 100%. I will warn you I hope you have a washer and dryer in the house because you will be washing!! Good Luck
Well, our daughter is also 19 months and we have just begun this process. We also have three boys (ages 3,4 and 6) so we have done the potty training thing 3 times already.
What my wife does is put her on the potty after her nap and when she wakes up in the morning. After having done this for a few weeks she goes after almost every nap and a few times in the mornings.
She has now started banging on the bathroom door when she has to go (or right after she goes – her timing is a little off). but it should not be long until she has it down.
Boys take longer but many girls have it down by their 2nd birthday.
My advice is be patient but also give her lots of opportunity and praise!!
Good luck!
She’s too young. She needs to stay dry at night first. Pull ups are a waste of money. Try putting her on the toilet every 20 min. If she goes make a big deal out of it…but like I said she is too young, try it when she is 2.
i agree with zqizzy.
Check out the site AmericanBaby.com and look up potty training. It’ll give you the tips you need to know if your child is even ready for the process. My daughter wasn’t ready till a little after her 2nd birthday.
THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TIME LINE. PERSONALLY I FEEL A CHILD SHOULD BE POTTY TRAINED BY THE AGE OF 2. HAVE YOU TRIED TAKING HER WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO, IF SHE WANTS TO LOOK IN THE TOILET WHILE YOU PEE,LET HER LET HER UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING. WHEN YOU GO TAKE HER PANTS OFF TOO AND SIT HER DOWN. NOW ONE WAY TO KNOW WHEN A CHILD IS READY IS WHEN THEY NO LONGER WET THEIRSELF WHILE THE SLEEP AT NIGHT, THIS MEANS THEY HAVE A KNOWLEDGE OT FEELING OF WHEN THEY HAVE TO GO. MY CHILD USED TO WAKE UP AND WHINE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, CAME TO FIND OUT,SHE HAD TO PEE. SO WE AS PARENTS(TE FATHER AND I) HAD TO GET UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AS WELL. ALSO, WHEN THEY START TO TAKE THEIR DIAPERS OFF OF THEMSELVES, ANOTHER CLUE.

I think that if you sit her on the potty as soon as she wakes up and every two hours there after for two or so weeks…. this means before and after she nap ,eating, going outside to play, and also try to limit drinking after 4:30 pm that helps with the night time problem… this should do the trick .. if you want to add some fun with it you can put a dot of blue food coloring in the toilet and when she goes it turns the water green… and lots of praises…
i am potty training my 21 month old. is your little girl showing intrest in the potty? you should let her go to the potty and see you go praise her when she goes. i read tha the don’t have full control untill they are 2 to 2 1/2
