Generally, we all need to pee upon waking. If you can just set her on the toilet in the morning she may go on her own and figure it out.
With girls you can also kind of blow in their direction and the cool air will help them pee spontaneously; running water; cool water on leg.
18 months seems to be a window of opportunity for training. If you can really be consistent but not forceful at this time, you could have positive results. No guarantees but this seems to be the case as a general rule.
Best to you in this new adventure.
First off don’t rush her she’s only 18 months, nothign to be worried about…. yet if she was 3 or 4 then ya u would have reason to be worried. Just make the experience fun and easy for her, try putting on relaxing music or when she is on the toilet maybe run the water.
Hey, I am a mother of a three year old the two best thing you can do and what I did for my daughter was to get her favorite. LOL, but pretend her teddy bear or in my daughter case Thumper the Bunny has to pee make the sound, put it on the potty and she may imitate the toy’s behavior. Or you can continue taking her to the bathroom when ever you have to go to do both #1and 2 until she understand this is where pee pee has to go. This is what I did with daughter a 12 months and it work maybe it will work for you.
What is it about mothers of babies this age that causes them to forget to use the words "defecate" and "urinate" when talking to ADULTS???? "Pee pee" and "poo poo"????
trish shut up CAN i get an amen??!!
YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOUR CHILD IS READY TO GO POTTY ON THE BIG POTTY!!
that is GREAT that she has gone #2 on the big potty though ESPECIALLY at her age!
i would put her in big girl underwear and plastics (worn over underwear to keep pee from getting everywhere when she has an accident).Continue going potty with her and say something like "look mommy is going potty can [name] go potty with mommy?" or every few hours say "lets go potty" and have her sit on the toilet.I would keep her in pull ups during naps and over night though. You could even put some candy in a jar and sit the jar on top of the toilet (skittles, gummy bears ect.) and everytime she goes potty she gets one peice of candy! she will get the hang of it
Girls are much easier to potty train then boys!
good luck!
Controlling # 1 seems to be a different story from controlling #2, at least initially. Giving my daughter the ability to get to the toilet on her own made all the difference. The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com makes every toilet kid-sized. She could climb on and off safely and securely all on her own. My kids immediately climbed up on this stool and were very interested in using the toilet. I was shocked how easy potty training was for them.
The handles and sides are the key! My son and daughter felt very secure and the sides makes them feel comfortable and closed in when they use the toilet.
My kids like to use what they know mommy and daddy use. And it really is wonderful having your kids independently use the toilet on their own. The best thing is children use this stool for years. Hope this helps you.
Make potty training fun!! Throw the biggest dance party you can imagine anytime she does anything in the potty. Also, if she’s in the bathroom when you go pee, throw an even bigger party – for yourself! Mommy gets a sticker and a cookie! She’s going to want a party, sticker and a cookie too!
General rule usually though, is if they’re still waking up quite wet after a nap, they may not be ready.
Also, if she’s not already in big girl panties, try that. Sometimes all it takes is the yucky feeling of one accident to encourage kids to try and make it to the potty. That’s all it took for one little guy I trained this past summer. He would go without it phasing him if he had a pullup on. After one or two accidents in underwear he was accident free.
